The Ordinary Vegan - Beanfeast Bolognese

Batchelors Beanfeast Bolognese is a dried packet mix to which you add water and heat in a saucepan to create a soya mince sauce to serve with spaghetti. It is quick and easy, it doesn't taste as good as making your own but if you need a satisfying meal for two in a hurry, it's great to keep in the store cupboard. The mix is sold at most major supermarkets for around £1 and takes around 12-15 minutes to make, so you can make it while the pasta is boiling. Serve stirred through spaghetti and grated with a little vegan cheese and vegan powdered parmesan. Great for a meal in a hurry!

  1. I remember discovering this when I first went veggie in the early '80s! It was the mainstay of my student life until I discovered hummus and pitta bread... didn't know it was still around. Better tell my newly- vegan teenage daughter :)

  2. Morrisons', my nearest supermarket in Maghull, Merseyside no longer stocks Batchelors' Beanfest spaghetti bolognese. My postcode is L33 4YZ. Please supply the name of nearest shop/supermarket that still stocks this product. Thank you

    1. Hi, it looks like it might have been discontinued by Batchelors. However, there is still stock available on Sainsbury's online delivery, Morrison's online delivery and through Amazon. Tesco are out of stock. Hope that helps. VVx

  3. Update in mid-2017: it's still available from the places mentioned in the article eg Tesco, Asda etc.

It's a very handy, vegan, quick meal. So much so, we took a couple of packs in the suitcase recently when travelling to Japan on holiday: https://peverilblog.wordpress.com/2017/06/20/peverilblogs-notes-from-tokyo-part-1-on-being-vegan-in-japan/
